  1. I'm using DVDFab (6) to rip a Sopranos DVD to my hard drive.

From there I load the VOB file(s) into DGIndex.

From here I save the audio (audio -> output method -> demux all tracks) and I get an ac3 file named:

    '09 boca T81 2_0ch 192Kbps DELAY -49ms.ac3'

Now it shows that there's a delay of -49ms in the file - I'm wondering if this is my issue.

Finally I use MeGUI to create an AVS Script of the d2v file that DGIndex made.

When imported into Premiere Pro CS4 the length of the 'avi' file is:

    51:38:10

And the length of the ac3 file is:

    51:41:11903

My issue is that the audio file is always longer than the video file. How can I get them to be the exact same length?

What can I do to get the avi & ac3 file lengths to match so I don't have to try to sync them up in Premiere?

    Thanks!

  2. Audio and video don't have to be the same length in a VOB file. But given the difference in lenths (1/10 of a percent) I'm going to guess that PP thinks your video is 30 fps, not 29.97 fps.

  3. The AVI file is being interpreted as 29.97 fps.

  4. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss what jagabo said if I were you, since the difference between a 30fps and 29.97fps file of about that length is about 3 seconds.

Open the AVS in VDub(Mod) and go File->File Information and check what it says about the length and framerate. Even if it does check out in VDub(Mod), I'd go ahead and do what you were going to do in Premiere and see if it comes out OK in the end.
Now it shows that there's a delay of -49ms in the file - I'm wondering if this is my issue.
Nope, since that's equal to about 1/20th of a second. You should probably take it into account when remuxing, though, or do away with the delay entirely using DelayCut.
