I know this generally isn't something that is done. I used to use my phillips 5960 to play files via disc... but there was also the USB option... the problem with USB is that it has a limited bandwidth and sometimes the video studders.

If the usb is rated at 3000 kbps, how can you encode video files to play through it. I thought I had it down when I set max bitrates at 1500 via handbrake and when looking at media info i get Overall bit rate : 1 640 Kbps

This is not true...I have some that are lower and they studder and I have some that are higher like 2064 and they play fine..

The reason i ask is that I have a usb option in my vehicle and my DVD/navigation plays divx/xvid files.... is there a way I can encode the files to KNOW they will play. Is there a setting or a MEDIAINFO option/explaination that will tell me if THIS is greater than 1000 or 2000 or 2500 it WILL not play...because my previous idea of overall bitrate was WRONG...

I am wanting to do this because I have a 500 gig hard drive that plugs into my system and can hold music\music videos\movies... I can do it via dvd disc, but that would be a headache keeping track of all the discs\switching discs
