  2. Whats so stupid about this type of fault is its not just Gopro's that suffer it. All cameras and HD camcorders suffer it - phones even. The lot!!! The people behind mp4 know this and have never adressed it and provided a: A more stable codec that is resilient to corruption or truncated file and b: a tool to fix it if they become corrupted.

The fact that they release a poor codec which is prone to damage and is unfiaxable by any one apart from one company in the world called Aeroquartet is scandalous. Obviously there is a way to fix this stuff and thats how aeroquartet make their money. A lot of people here know how to do this with HEX code but its beyond many of us noobs. Surely someone with a brain can write a program to chop up the headers and paste them in without having to crawl around inside a HEX editor.

Please someone with a brain do the world a favour. Perhaps we should petition Gopro or the owners of MP4 codec to get it sorted. After all data is data, a header is just a way to telling it what to expect, but that should even be abelt ot be guessed if something intelligent enougjh scans the file - it should be able to generate a completely new header. Cmon programmers and Mp4 codec owners, sort it out ;=-)

    H2testw version 1.3

Im CHECK THE MEMORY SD AND IS HACKED AND I LOST ALL VIDEOS BEFORE 3GB. THEN THE MEMORY IS 3GB AND NOT 32 GB CLASS4.

FOR US CHECK THE MEMORY INTEGRITY WITH THE PROGRAM H2testw version 1.3.

    ---------------

Saludos . Espero que esta información les sea útil. Usuario GOPRO Hero HD.

  4. Hello,

    This is very common, unfortunately.

NEVER buy a SDHC card from UNTRUSTED SOURCE!

Here is what we have learnt over the years about counterfeit cards:
    http://aeroquartet.com/movierepair/counterfeit

    - at the beginning, works like a charm
    - fails silently
    - lost files are impossible to recover

    Regards,
    BJ

  5. I had a similar issue and this what I did to fix it.

Open up command prompt on Windows by going to the start menu and typing CMD in search then press enter. For older windows machines you can just do a run then CMD.

    Once in the command prompt,

Use the check disk function to check for errors

    chkdsk e:/DCIM/100GOPRO/FILENAME.MP4

Then press enter, make sure to replace "FILENAME" with the respective filename that you think is corrupt. If it returns as corrupt type the same thing again only this time add /f in front of the location like this. /f will fix any errors that it finds.

    chkdsk /f e:/DCIM/100GOPRO/FILENAME.MP4

And voila, your files should work. I had two corrupt files both became corrupt by me crashing on my mountain bike and the GoPro taking some brute force. All fixed now though.

I used this site as my reference for DOS commands - http://www.computerhope.com/chkdskh.htm

Try to repair corrupt videos with the Video Repair Tool from www.grauonline.de. It helped my out with my GoPRO HD Hero 2 cam used for FPV flights (first person view flights). The demo version is free and recovers 50%.
