Hi, I got his audio from someone who recorded it from TV. There is some really annoying noise that makes sounds weird and voices squeaky. I was unable to remove it using regular software.

Is there a way to improve this? (sample attached)

    Any ideas will be welcomed.

    Thank you.

What I hear is a poor quality recording that has then been horribly compressed. Because it comes off a TV there is a very compressed dynamic range, which is why the background music interferes with the speaker so much, but most of the problems are the quality of the recording itself (not very clear, gain too high) and the level of compression applied afterwards (way too much)

Not really. I had a play using some pretty high end noise reduction and restoration tools that I use for old analogue recordings, but the damage is already done. It is possible to kill some of the noise in the background, but that just enhances how truly bad the compression damage is. It makes the speaker easier to hear, but at the same time, makes the compression artefacts sound appear much worse. Perhaps someone else will have more luck, but I certainly don't think what I was able to do was a huge improvement. If it is the squeakiness of the compression artefacts that you want removed then I think you are out of luck.

I can hear that familiar "whoosh" sound that indicates somebody already applied bad noise reduction on it.

You can remove some of the bass to make it less boomy but it still sounds bad.
