    What or who is this and why do I have to let them through my script blocker to view videos on YouTube?

    While we're at ...what's the deal with doubleclick.net that I am blocking from youtube as well this site and many others?

    Many Youtube images, scripts, etc are located at Google's ytimg.com. Youtube won't work if you block that site. DoubleClick is a tracking and ad serving company. There's no reason to let them track you and serve you ads. Block them and their cookies.

    Many sites requires doubleclick.com now too -- you can't block it, or sites may not work right. It's not just ads/cookies anymore, it's also being used as cloud-like serving, a CDN.
