  1. The title pretty much says it all. I am transferring an old vhs to dvd for a friend and got everything the way I want it, it previews in the program (on the computer) fine, a/v is synched, it sounds good, etc.

But when I burned it onto dvd (Image Burn 2.5.0.0) and played it on the standalone, when it gets to my chapter breaks, it pauses before it plays the next chapter.

None of my previous dvds have done this, that's why I am at a loss. Any help or suggestions?

    Thanks.
    Shawn.

P.S. - I just redid another one and now I am thinking it might be Image Burn. I am currently reading over there to try to figure out where my problem is. I will still accept suggestions here.

NeoDVD used to do that. Unfortunately, Mediostream didn't have a fix. I couldn't find any settings in Imgburn that would pause playback at chapter breaks. If you've burned it to a VIDEO_TS folder, open the .ifo file with Mediaplayerclassic and see if the pause is there: If so, it's in the settings when you authored the DVD.

  3. Crud.
I just checked it with media player and it played seamless.

This is a gift for someone, that's why I am obsessing over it.

When you put the DVD together, were these chapters just marks in a single video clip, or separate video clips ? It sounds like you have put a group of separate clips (titles_ together and are hoping the will act like chapters. On a PC HDD, playback appears smooth because the drive is fast enough for the player to seek the next title with a minimal gap. On a DVD player, the speed is not as fast, and hence the gap.

If this is how you created your clip then you first need to go into Vegas and edit all your clips into a single title, and use this to author your DVD, adding proper chapter marks to this single title.

    The problem is not imgburn.

  5. I did made these chapters the way DVD Architect suggested. On my chapter page, I inserted the same whole video, and then set in/out points. I couldn't get it to recognize chapters any other way. You are right guns1inger.

Can you give me or point me to an easy tutorial on how to make chapters? DVD Architect Help, is anything but.

In and out points are for segmenting a single clip into smaller clips for isolated playback. Real chapters are simply markers along the time line. I only have 4.5 Pro as a reference, but what you need to do it open the title on the timeline, then click on the Marker tool and hold to bring down the selection menu. Select Insert Chapter Marker from the list (See image)

On the timeline, place the cursor at the position you want the chapter, then click the Marker tool to place a chapter mark. Repeat until all your chapter points are in place.

  7. I got that far before, but I couldn't get my button to link to the corresponding chapter. I'll try again in a minute, I'm authoring something else right now.

  8. Thank you so much, guns1inger. I got it figured out. And in typical fashion, as soon as I did figure it out, it was so freaking easy.

And thanks to everyone else that offered help also! You will not be forgotten!!
