I have a Hitachi hard disk camcorder which records in .VRO format. The software that came with it is an absolute joke. So my plan was to copy the .VRO file to my PC where I'd cut out clips I don't want and demux to M2V and AC3 which I can load in my DVD authoring software. But I'm finding that the output video & audio files have audio sync issues. I thought it may have been the precompiled version of ProjectX that I downloaded, so today I installed the java SDK and downloaded ProjectX 0.90.4 source and compiled the JAR file. Unfortunately I'm still getting sync issues.

On the one I did today, the sync was fine until a few minutes in - then there seemed to be a little "hiccup" on the video and after that the audio was all out of sync by a couple of seconds.

I'm very disappointed because I've used ProjectX in the past on DVB-T broadcasts without issue, and it has a great reputation for NOT causing audio sync problems. Can anyone suggest what might be causing this and how I can fix it in ProjectX? Or an alternative way of editing and demuxing that won't cause the audio sync issue?

    Regards,
    Phill

Not free, but reliable is the Quick Stream Fix function found in Videoredo. That's one of the few apps that doesn't have a freeware rival.

Thank you for the info. I've seen it mentioned a lot so I guess I'll have to give it a whirl. Out of interest, does anyone know if there is something similar and as good which runs on Linux?
