So if I have some home video in a .wmv container with VC-1 video stream and wma audio stream (basicaly video I have recorded with my camcorder) can I run this video through a converter like TMPGenc and crank up all the settings and pop out a bluray quality video file?
I guess I am asking what constitutes bluray quality? is it the video bit rate? I mean can you theoretically take a standard store bought dvd and and run it through TMPGenc and get a bluray quality?
Please forgive my newbie questions!

No, you can't get HD blu-ray quality from DVD.
But if your wmv is in HD quality then yes. -
No.
Short answer, it's a matter of resolution with adequate bitrate. What bitrate is adequate depends on the compression used. "Cranking up the settings" is exactly the wrong way to approach video. You want to apply only what is necessary in the way of filters, none ideally.Pull! Bang! Darn! -
ok so then how do i get 1 for 1 quality if say i cut, edited and converted wmv home video to a .mp4 file to play on my xbox 360? I know the 360 has a 4gig limit but, i would like to be as close to the original quality as possible.
thanks for the help
