Hd-dvd backup to AVCHD

HI all,

I have a large collection of HD-DVD's and would like to convert them to AVCHD for playback on my Blu-Ray player.
I have an X-box HD-DVD drive that I can plug on to my PC for ripping to the Hard Drive.
I would like to use free software only if possible.

1- What ripping tool is best to use to put the HD-DVD to Hard disc?

2- What converting tool is best to convert to AVCHD?

All must be easy for dummies please, as I'm not the best with computers.

You can also try Clown_BD instead of MultiAVCHD.

I use Ripbot to convert my HD-DVD's to AVCHD for playback on my Sony standalone. I find Ripbot much easier to use.

If you go over to doom9 you can get teh AACS keys you need to use DUMPHD for free...

(1) Rip the HD-DVD to your hard drive (using AnyDVD-HD or one of the other methods listed).

(2) Use Clown-BD to convert the STRUCTURE (on your hard drive) to either (a) a Blu-Ray structure or (b) an .m2ts file (with the main movie)

Clown-BD is superb at this task.
