Hi, I've posted this question on the WDTV forum as well but thought I might try here since you guys might have more info on subtitle files.
I have a Sub/Idx file with four language streams on it for a movie I want to watch on my WDTV Live media player. The first two language streams work perfectly on the player, but the second and third ones which I want do not play at all. On my computer though they all work fine (I use KMPLayer).
Someone suggested I strip the stream/s I wanted out into a single sub/idx, which I did with VobSubStrip but still it won't work on the player.
I bit the bullet and tried to convert the problem streams to SRT using Subrip but got an error message saying:
"This subtitle item can't be processed. Possible bad Advanced OCR Setup or none space between subtitle lines ..." and something about the colour possibly not being correct. (When I tried converting the first two streams that are problem free, there was no error message.)
Does that mean there's some kind of problem within the stream that is preventing it from playing on the media player? I've uploaded the zip of the sub/idx if anyone is interested in testing it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Manono, you are an absolute legend! It works perfectly now. You cannot believe how long this has been driving me nuts for! How did you do it?

The originals didn't play for me either, although I can't figure out what's wrong with them. I opened them in SubtitleCreator and then resaved them. After that they were fine. You might want to change the language back to Chinese, if it bothers you. I just used the original and default language it offered me. And I don't know if those are the colors you want or not. They can be changed using VobSub Configure (comes as part of the VobSub package).

The colours and languages are fine. I won't mess around with the colours anyway as WDTV seems to ignore the colour settings a lot of the time anyway. Thanks a million again!
Actually I have another question regarding joining split up subtitles. I have some SRT subtitles that come in cd1 cd2 cd3. When I join them with a program like Subtitle Workshop then sync the beginning and end, the subs start to go out of sync after about 10 minutes or so and progressively get worse and worse until it nears the end of the movie, where the last spoken line will be in sync again. It doesn't seem to make a difference if I select he "recalculate time values" option or not
This is a problem since a lot of my movies are over two hours long, and all the subs available for download movies that length are split into at least two parts. -
Sorry, but I don't use Subtitle Workshop. Perhaps someone else can help.
You might try SubtitleCreator for the job as it also has the ability to join SRT files. I haven't used it for that, but it looks fairly easy to do. -
