I have been doing some transfers to DVD using this deck http://www.norbain.co.uk/downloads/datasheets/SR-S388E(gencat).pdf is the one. I have read nothing about it here, but it really is working well. The TB circuitry seems really effective and the timecode feature is useful. I have not used the editing functions but it is a heavy machine with great internals so all operations are quick and quiet. I purchaced mine new and keep it boxed between use so I hope it will last.

The buttons are 'old school' click switches like the 1980's VCR's (no creaking front panel) and it really is a great machine.

Anyone else using this deck for their work?

    Ian

I see no mention of a TBC (timebase corrector).

If you look at page 7 on the instructions it is there.

Yeah, that looks to be a good unit. What's the date stamped on the back of the unit? When was it manufactured?
Since it has "S-VHS ET" listed, it has to be from late 90s or early 2000s.

I purchaced it new in 2006, but it was new old stock. I cannot see any date on the rear (where would it be?) but the instructions are dated 1996.

That's around the generation of the HR-S9600U. It's probably a great VCR.
