I was browsing craigslist to see if I could pick up a used laptop for a decent price. Most of the listings were way over priced. I've seen people pricing used laptops for the price that I could pickup a new netbook of equal specs. And what's worse is there will probably be someone willing to pay them for their over priced goods.

JMO, but the average computer user that paid $1500US for a computer thinks he can sell it for $1400, or more, used, a year or two later. I figure, at best, 50% of the original price if it's maybe a year old and a decent PC. And they may have few takers at that.

Just factor in what you've got out of the PC. If it's done everything you wanted in the time you've used it, then you have probably got your use out of it, and maybe you should 'give it away' to let someone else get a good deal. Figure a quarter of the original cost and you should sell it easy enough.

EDIT: Yeah, I've seen that on Craigslist also. Lots of delusional people out there. But on the up side, 'There's one born every minute.' You may find someone to sell your PC to for the high price you want, but good luck.

i can't even give away stuff on craigslist. i post elecdtronics items, computers, very fair and low pricing, and they want it so low that i end up giving it to a friend or family member as I am not that broke but i won't be taken advantage of....

Consumer sales of PC junk on Craigslist is silly. However if you're looking for high-end and server equipment you can get some great deals. I picked up a pair of 5430s to replace my 5410s on CL for $150 (for the pair)!!

How is this any different from non-computer related overpriced junk on Craigslist and elsewhere?

You must be new to CL ad's

Along the lines of what redwudz said, i saw a guy not long ago that had a 4 year old PC, said he paid $1400.00 for it and wanted $700.00!!

It was a major joke!!!!!! you could build one yourself many time better and faster for $400.00!!
    LMAO!!

Or the guy that relisted his 700mhz pc with something like 128mb of ramm & a 20gb HDD for $100.00!!!
    LMAO!!

He relisted it like 4 times over a month and finally relisted it at $50.00.
    JUST the PC tower!!

    And i have seen worse!
Usually people are a little high, and i mean as in "high" not just their prices.
But i do find quite a bit of good stuff for cheap, you just have to look a lot and jump right on the good stuff because it usually does not last long.

I was looking for a cheap Pentium D 805 on eBay thinking that I could get one really cheap since they were one of the first DC processors. That's when I see someone trying to sell one NIB for almost $200! I can get a brand new quad core on Newegg for less than that. Finally found a used one for a reasonable price and took it but still can't believe someone trying to sell almost 4 to 5 year old processors for the price of current ones.
