Greetings,
I am trying to get to the heart of an audio sync problem I am having with some movies. I had RIPPED a whole bunch last week. 3 from my daughter, 3 rented from blockbuster. I proceeded in different orders but basically used
DVD Decryptor
DVD2AVI
TMPG
NERO
Each of the ones from my daughter are fine. The first one I did from Blockbuster (hearts in atlantis) had about a 6 1/2 second gap where the audio was first. I worked for a day to sync it, got it done and then burned. Watch 95% of the movie and lost sound in last 5 minutes (oh joy).
I thought it was a fluke. Then I did Rock Star. Same problem. Audio and video don't sync. Now I have been doing this for months. I did notice the blockbuster videos had a strange center label on the disk with a hand written code.
Are they using special DVD's now with a new copy guard ? Can I correct this with IFOEDIT or some tool ? This is really bugging me as I went crazy reloading software thinking I had trashed the items.
DETAIL
Each VOB file is playable and in sync
DVD2AVI creates normal file however, after TMPG thats when there is sync prob. I don't think it is the tool because I can do other movies.
Thanks in advance.

well since Blockbuster uses the same retail DVDs that anyone else could normally buy its highly unlikely that it is a DVD problem, as there is nothing special about the discs. So just ignore the fact that they are from Blockbuster. It could be one of several things, encoding method (event he bewst of us **** up once in a while, or forget some settings or somethng) or some discs are encoded differently and are known to have slight desync problems to begin with (regardless of whether you rented them at Blockbuster or bought them at Best Buy) it could be any of these, my suggestion would be to re-encode it and then see from there...i know its a pain in the ass but you have to cover all bases. if its still desynced u can manually sync it by demuxing and remuxing the audio/video, thats in the guides to the left.

Thanks , I will give it a whirl. Thing is...Its just so strange only those three. I have ripped at least 50 movies in 2 months with not a single error. Can still do so.....all except those three.
Like I say, I'll try a DEMUX and Re-multplex, see what happens. -
I had the same problem with The Ghost and The Darkness, when I ripped the vobs, i had to compensate -22000 ms in TMPEnc to get the video and audio back in snych before the burn. I have learned now to use the selection part in TMPEnc and pick a small portions in the film, render them in the beginning , the middle and the end to see what if any sych problems I may have, before rendering the entire film. My current problem is Ulead DVd movie factory converting a good mpeg 2 file of Rush Hour 2 and when I checked the vobs, they were out of snych by about 5 secs, So I am going to try conversion in Pinnacle Impression and see how well it stacks up. I think part of the problem is for simple just movie and no menus in DVD Movie factory it works well, but this time around I have menus music ect with alot of chapter stops and I am think it was a bit too much for it to handle when it went to author the vob files.
