    Hey Guys.

Does anyone know if the newest version af AutoGK, supports DivX 7 Pro?
    - I would like to convert all my dvd's to DivX, so they are playable on my stand-alone player. - That unfortunately doesn't support Xvid.

    All the best,

I'm pretty sure that Divx7 still use the divx codec version 6.8 so autogk should still work fine.

But are you sure that your dvd player doesn't support xvid? Even if it doesn't mention it usually does anyway.

  3. If you set Xvid to use DX50 as the fourcc the videos will probably play in your set-top Divx/DVD player.

Thank a lot for your reply. If I can make it work with Xvid, it would be perfect. I'm a little unsure where you set it to use DX50?
    - Is it in the hidden setup, through Ctrl-F9, in Autogk?

  5. I don't know if you can access the fourcc option in AutoGK but from the main Xvid Configuration dialog you press the "Other Options..." button at the bottom center and then set the FourCC on the next dialog.

You can also try using Fourcc Code Changer to change the fourcc afterwards encoding with Xvid and its usuall XVID fourcc.

Divx 7 still includes the older MPEG 4 ASP VFW encoders so you should be able to use that with AutoGK.

No, I don't think you can access the Xvid settings through AutoGk, but i downloaded the Fourcc Code Changer, to do it with that instead.

How do I set that, to ensure I set the file to DX50?

If I open a file I've encoded to Xvid, in AutoGk. I can't choose the two settings in the dropdown menus. If I write it in manualy and click Apply, it tels me that the changes has been made. My player still won't play it though.. Am I doing it wrong or is it normal that you can't find it in the dropdown menu's?

  9. You can't do it in AutoGK (change the fourcc). However, there might be other reasons why your player can't play the file. Did you enable the ESS chipset option when installing or setting up the encode? Post a log.

Yes. I've enabled the ESS. I read about it in a Faq at AutoGk. I have 2 players that should be able to play it. The one (a dvd player) works fine with Xvid, but my United DVB-T digital tuner box, for my home antenne refuses to accept the format, via USB.

I'm planing to buy a fladscreen tv with DLNA and network support. So all the files I'm making now should be made so there is the best chance for them to work on the tv... - So I figured.. If it works on both my devices, then it should play on the tv too..

I'll find the log and post it. I guess it's gonna be tomorrow.. It's a bit late here in Denmark now

  11. If you've got the ESS chipset option enabled, then it's supposed to work in just about any standalone ever made that also supports DivX AVIs. I've never heard of one that wouldn't play them. Until now. There's no need for a log now. I guess you'll have to use DivX. Let us know if AutoGK accepts your DivX 7. I'm not convinced it will, but don't know for sure.

  12. There was another discussion here recently about a player that would play video encoded with Divx but not Xvid. We compared just about everything we could, fourcc, frame size, packed bitstream vs unpacked, 0,1,2 b-frames, no GMC, no QPel, bitrates, etc. Nothing could get the player to play Xvid encoded video. But it's pretty rare to see a player like that these days.
