I use the SUPER converter to convert an h264 file to XviD

But when I select the bitrate to 6000k, the result of the new xvid file has 2000k of bitrate...

    Why?!

I haven't used SUPER in a while myself but I remember I didn't like it very much. Perhaps you can try another free all-in-one converter, any video converter, xmedia recode, format factory, or any of the others listed here

6000 is very high for Xvid/Divx unless you are working with HD resolutions. I suspect that you are swamping the encoder and there simply isn't enough video to use the full bitrate that you are asking for. If it can't fill the rate, it won't.

thats what i was thinking about!!! ... so guns, whats the max bitrate for a xvid compression when its not hd??

  6. that software might have different min/max frame quantizers that might be limiting you

if you can, try adjust min quantizer as low as possible , you can even lower the max a bit

(lower quantizer means higher bitrate , higher quality)

Forget bitrate and go for a constant quality encode. You will get the bitrate that is required for the level of quality you request.

It depends on the nature of the video. A video that consists of all black frames with no noise will compress down to nearly nothing no matter what settings you use. A video that is very noisy (like inter-station analog static noise) can consume huge amounts of bitrate.

I have a 640x480, 23.976 fps, test video that consists of alternating still shots of the Belle Nuit test chart and interstation static. When encoded with Xvid in Target Quantizer mode with a Quantizer of 1 the still shots get about 100 kbps, the static shots get about 100,000 kbps.

Ditch SUPER - there are better alternatives - Xvid4PSP, MeGUI.
