  1. Having trouble making VCDs. I tried to burn one to a cd but neroi didnt like it. Later i found out that it doesnt seem it likes it if u try to burn more than 80 ins of video to a cd. Do VCDs rely on cd time rather than capacity? Is there any way to get a 1:30 hour film on one cd like divx? I mean, surely austin powers doesnt need 2 cds...

If you can help meout, explain a few things about VCDs and stuff, i wud appreciate it greatly. I need to convert a few divx movies to vcds for use with DVD players :)

    Thanx

  2. Hi, :)

I tried the new Traxdata CD of 90 minutes, they can be burned by nero5.5 setting the overburn option to 90 minutes (don't do that on 80min cds!!! ) and on recent writers.. they are seen by nero as 80 min cd's but it ask you if you want to continue to burn or not, answer yes. I fit a VCD of 87' on it without problems. I think 90 minutes is the maximum you can fi on there.

Overburning must be supported from the writer too, otherwise it could be dangerous for it. CD-R are very cheap today so you can split the movie on two of them in case of doubt.

You cannot change the file size changing the bit rate (as you can encoding DVX) because VCD must be compliant to VCD sepcifications.
You can find more on VCD and conversions on this site. read WHAT IS VDC and HO TO CONVERT.....

    good luck and best regards

  3. I would'nt use the over burning process because it can be a bit dangerous.
If you want to play it save, download some of the Tepltes offered in the Tools section of VCDHELP.COM.
I personally use SEFY'S templates a lot.He uses the CQ_VBR compression which can get you up to 100 mintes or more by following his instructions.
Also remember to set Nero with the Compliance box unchecked or it won't work.I personally prefer VCDEASY .Its free, its easy and it burns anything.

  4. Try using Cyberimage26 template (sorry you'll have to do the search for it). This will definately get you 120 mins on 1 cd if the original was a 1 cd divx. Results are pleasantly surprising.....
