I have a ATI TV Wonder VE caputure card.
When I hook up my set-top DVD player through my ATI card to watch movies on my computer I get odd lines in the video. refer to
http://forum.vcdhelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=80555
The thing is, I think it is related to a new type of macrovision being encoded directly into the video signal... or else the card picks it up somehow? I've noticed this on movies such as Shrek, Ranma 1/2: Yuku's Secret Sauce, Planet of the Apes, The One:Jet Li. I've tried my Sima Video Copy Master, with no luck.. its still there those odd lines. But my Sima works when I copy DVD to VHS.
Is there anyway to fix this? hack... maybe? The other only way I could think of is to record them to tape then watch them through the card... but that would be kinda pointless having it on DVD.
Help, Comments?
Thanks.

First, do not capture the DVD, use a ripping software. Second, the ATI Macrovision removal tool available from Stinky DEFINITELY works on XP pro, I believe this must be on an NT core OS. (NT, XP, 2000)

I found out it is called "ColorStripping" it is Level 2 Macrovision. It is being implemented in all the newer DVDs, along with level 1 macrovision "light/dark".
I don't want to rip the VOB files from the DVD cause it talks to damn long
, first you rip it, then you edit the header, then you convert it to VCD.
What i really wanted to do is just watch it on my computer (video in), not copy the dvd (video out). There is a way around it I found, it is to buy the "SIMA SCC" it handles level 2 macrovison, but its about $110
I just thought there was a simple software hack, but thanks anyways.
