    I'm sure you're right in the USA.

    In the UK, almost all DVD players (any manufacturer, including the ones you listed) let you choose the following output options:
    PAL = "always PAL"
    NTSC = "always NTSC"
    Multi = "whatever is on the disc"

    ...and the vast majority of DVD recorders will record PAL or NTSC - whatever comes in (but not convert!). As VictoriaBears has hinted, you can't mix PAL and NTSC on the same disc - you have to start with a fresh disc to change recording format.

    The vast majority of UK equipment is also worldwide voltage compatible - 100-240V, 50-60Hz. The vast majority of DVD players can be bought region free. Many models cannot be bought as anything other than region free.

    (For "UK" read "the whole of Europe, and most other places too!" - things are specially crippled for the US market, though they're cheaper too)

    Cheers,
    David.

    Yes....and that is also common knowledge....especially to me since I now live here in Europe having moved here from the United States.

    hech54,

    I don't care what my DVD recorder is doing. All I know is you stated a problem. I gave you a fix. The DVD's work fine, they play on NTSC players and when they are ripped from the disk, they show up as 720x480 29.97 frames per second. Not wasting any more time replying to your messages. In stead of doubting, why don't you help this person out with a solution. I gave you my solution, which works......Just look at the example above, it was PAL now it is NTSC and the quality is fine.

  7. Hech 54, your manner is offensive, just try to realise that there are people who do not agree with you and that do not have your experience or learning curve ability, we are all here to help one another, not put what people say under the microscope and "yell" at them.

    Well if I know nothing or even very little about a topic(like...say...scripting) I don't post in those threads. If it is something I know about I will post and WILL point out someone else's mistakes and attempts to cover them up.

    Hech54,

    Just cut a video, guess what ??? it is amazing !!!

    Mixed NTSC clips with PAL clips....Used my method to convert.....

    It runs perfect......You can play it in PAL or NTSC, have 2 different copies of it.......No mistakes on my end.......

    I had a Centrios DVD recorder that could take PAL input from my PAL VCR, and it could record as PAL. It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure it would also record as NTSC, if I set it as such (blended 25fps into 30fps -- not the best of quality, mind you). It was a unique recorder. Never saw anything like that before, or since.

  11. yes there were/are those oddball brands like RJ tech that did things like that, it is important not to doubt anyones statements unless you yourself have the exact same machinery (even then it could be a different year/different abilities) and know the person is full of it.

    Even then, is it really that serious if someone genuinly (and that is the key term) believes something, this is friendly forum not a court of law.

    I was not even thinking about this when I was doing this video. Than today it dawned on me. The video, that was just completed is about 60 clips.

    They came from the following:

    NTSC VHS
    PAL VHS
    PAL DVD RAM
    NTSC DVD
    PAL DVD
    HD

    After everything was on DVD..The clips were than copied DVD Player to DVD Player...Again wasn't even thinking about PAL to NTSC....

    Once I had all my clips, which took a while. Cut the film on the PC. Than wrote a soundtrack for the video. The HD was actually the hardest. Had to blend the picture to not look HD & to fit with the rest of the film.

    I am not bragging, I am just saying if you work creative anything is possible...
