I have some AVI files that I want to convert to mp4 or mov so that I can play them with Quicktime. They work in VLC fine already. This program works great for me sometimes. The problem is when I have a video that is widescreen. Not sure why it changes the sizes of the conversion. I've tried so many options and even type it in manually but it still seems to decide on it's own to squeeze it... I currently have one at 720x344. What options do I need to choose? Thx!

I would use AVI Demux (Mac version available). You may find you can just repackage without transcoding/re-encoding. AVI Demux should also transfer any AR flags that er in play, although QT may not respect them. If that is the case you may have to resize to 1:1 PAR, then re-encode.

Thanks for the help. I downloaded AVI DEMUX and successfully transfered a video to QT, however the frame rate got choppy. I opened the original in VLC to see the frame rate info. How do I tell the program to keep it the same.

If you just use Copy mode (set both Video and Audio to Copy) then there will be no change. If you are re-encoding and want to change the framerate you can do so under Video -> Framerate
