Hookin Mini DV Camcorder To Laptop

Hi,

Just joined tonight. I need some help. I have a Panasonic Mini DV camcorder model # AG-DVC7P. I was trying to hook it up to my laptop which has Vista, thru the Firewire connection. The connection I have is a DV end into the camcorder and a USB end into my computer. When I hook it up it says USA Device Not Recongized. Any suggestions on how I can make this work? Thanks in advance.

try firewire only using WinDV (Windows compatibility mode) no driver need it

WinDV doesn't work with USB


I'm not sure if HDVSplit will work with mini DV .I know it works with HDV

Thanks for the tip. The only other Firewire cord I have has an end that won't fit any of my other ports. It needs to be a USB port.
