I have a 50" Samsung Plasma television and now would like to purchase a blue ray player of the same brand. I would like some input on what to look for in the features. Not looking to break the bank, wanting to stay under $200.00, so it doesn't have to make toast as well as play movies. I also have Netflix, so that feature would be a plus, but not necessary.

Do you care about region free DVD playback? How about region free BluRay playback? Because if you do you can't buy Samsung.

You probably want something that complies with Profile 2.0 but otherwise the features are all pretty much the same between all the brands. It's just a question of whether you want USB playback, ability to play Divx, MP3 and things like that that aren't really part of BluRay support.

  3. Most 2010 BD players will have streaming so you can use Netflix, the Samsung 1600 can do it all for ~$160USD. You can also get a Panasonic BD60 for $120 and a Roku for $99.
