i recently got me a pv231 hardware mpeg capture card.
To be honest, it gives pretty decent mpeg's in my opinion.
I capture mpeg1 at 2250 kb/s
Now, when i cut these files with tmpgenc the second and third part are always out of sync.
When i convert the file with tmpgenc to a vcd complient mpeg file i can cut it without any problem but then i loose some of the good quality.
Is there any other !! free !! way to cut these files, or any other !! free !! program wich will do this perfectly?
I also have a dazzle dvc usb unit, wich does also outstanding captures, with this, i capture at 2000 or 2200 and i can cut the generated mpeg files easily without any sync problems.
(ps, is there anybody who can help me putting samples of my captured results with dazzle and pv231 on the net to show people that these things don't always suck?)
The only "problem" i encounter with the xvcd's generated with dazzle is that when i watch them on my stand alone dvd player and i push fast foreward and then play again, the movie is way out of sync but then i just have to push fast foreward briefly again and then play and the audio and video are back perfectly synced.
ok, thanks ppl!

The problem with formatting captured clips to be posted to the internet, is .asp and .rm files (both of which the dvcII will encode in) are compressed in an mpeg 4 with poor quality, this may not be the way to go if you are trying show the clips off. Try going to http://dazzle.mightyeyes.com to post if you do decide to encode in those formats.
