  1. I use Virtualdub to frameserve my AVI-file (converted with VFAPIConv) to CCE.

    This works in Windows 98.
    It doesn't work in Windows XP:
    CCE 2.25 crashes, CCE 2.64 says Invalid AVI file.

    Anyone who can help?

  2. Wish I could help you with this one - VirtualDub's frameserver works fine for me under WinXP!

    Did you run AUXSETUP.EXE in the VirtualDub directory and install everything needed for frameserving?

    . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

    I'm in the process of converting my 10 year old Married with Children VHS videotapes to digital format. The process is as follows:

    VCR --> DVMC-DA1
    Average episode takes 22 minutes, which rounds out to a 5 gig DV file.

    VirtualDub --> TMPGEnc
    Crop, resize, black border, plus a filter in VirtualDub then I frameserver to TMPGEnc. 22 minutes takes about 2:40 of encoding time on my Tbird 1.2 Ghz machine.

    The source material isn't that great, due to the fact it is ten years old AND due to the fact I rewatched each episode a whole lotta times

    SVCD seemed the best way to go, because I wanted to capture as much information off of the VHS tape and wanted to display it as best as I could.

    Each episode goes on a CDR by itself. They're only 30 cents apiece, which is nothing.

    Eventually I hope to finish converting the 120 or so episodes I have on tape

  3. Frameserving to TMpegEnc under XP works for me too.

    Frameserving to CCEncoder is the problem.

    I read in some faq that frameserving with Vdub doesn't work with CCE 2.64, and neither does avisynth

    However, vdub to cce 2.50 works under winxp for me
