Hi,
I have a Hauppauge HD-PVR 1212 and I was just reading that an HDFURY2 helps with getting the video to true 1080i. With this in mind, does it actually help the video quality of the RECORDING, or does it just allow you to display whatever it is you are recording in better quality?
Thanks.

The only reason you would want to use the HDFURY2 is if you have an HDCP protected HDMI source. The HDFURY2 would convert that to component video so you can capture with the HD PVR. Converting from 720p to 1080i would be pointless and would degrade the quality.
