I'm an old-fashioned scholar in many ways, doing both original research, and having a lot of non-digital research material. In fact, very little of my information on video or photo came from a website, so I don't have links. You're on your own there. This was talked about at various points in the past. I remember first hearing about it at an NPPA convention some many years ago.

I did a quite Google search, there is not much on the topic, aside from late 1990s forum posts about CDs and camera lenses, at least 10 pages down in the search results.

Not everything is online. I have a LOT of information, both on my hobbies and professional materials, that is not online (and sometimes I don't think it ever will be).

  3. Someone know if there are good internal Blu Ray players "Slot-in" out there

The only one i found thus far (under 100€ which is my budget) is this ONE but there is little info on it.No brand it seems but "OEM"..strange

Also what do you think about the "slot-in" format? I never had one personally but i believe it's practical, maybe i'm wrong.Maybe it's noisy and not reliable, i just don't know, you tell me.

There is a reason i want one though, i soon will build an isobox sound proofing-like see here and its size should fit my tower size but not the extra size a dvd player's drawer takes when you press open (= possible break because of the front glass).

The Samsung is at least as good as that NEC you had.
I just got a Sony Optiarc SATA burner. I though Sony OEMed Optirac.

So, is "Optirac" just a series name and not a company name?

  7. I think the Optiarc is/was joint venture between NEC and Sony(100% sony now)
