    How do you do this?

I just downloaded my first iTunes movie, looking at the file it contains several formats - but shows different sizes depending on what it is played through. For example:

Quicktime plays the file at 853x352

iPod plays the file at 640x352

Media Info shows the file to have H264 track 640x352 and a M JPEG track 640x272

How does Quicktime play the movie at a larger resolution?

    Thanks. Eon

  2. I believe that there is an anamorphic flag that can be encoded into the video.
For the love of God, use hub/core labels on your Recordable Discs!

  3. Any player can play any video at any size it wants. It looks like the file actually contains a 2.35:1 movie. In the MJPEG stream it's encoded with square pixels (640/272 * 1/1 ~= 2.35). In the h.264 stream it's encoded with anamorphic NTSC DVD sized pixels (640/352 * 40/33 ~= 2.2).
