  1. I am used to ripping my dvd's to VCD format using the 1,2,3 - SmartRipper, DVD2AVI, TMPGENC method. I just decided to try a smaple of converting a movie to SVCD format instead of my regular VCD format, just to see what all the hype was about and compare quality. Well, I can't really see a whole lot better picture, plus my video picture is very square and much smaller than the VCD format for some reason. Am I doing something wrong. I'm using the STOCK SVCD template that comes with TMPGENC. Any suggestions???

Somehow the TMPGEnc MPG-2 codec doesent like Windows Media player, try installing Power DVD or Win DVD to play the SVCD file, then ya will hopefully get the right propotions.. it worked for me atleast.

  3. svcd(or dvd for that matter) will never display correctly on pc monitor(software bob=deinterlace). 50/60hz tv playback is needed for proper svcd evaluation
