meh. But I do see this thing's release onto the market as important. The hell you say? Companies are always trying to one-up each other and in the long run, from a technology/feature standpoint, we need products such as this to be released to a) spur the creation of newer products with better features, b) create a new standard that newer products will build upon, or c) light a fire under Apple's a$$ to add needed features this thing is lacking due to competition. So I'll layoff the Apple-bashing and let the Apple groupies clamor for these things like hungry wolves (and make it at least a mediocre hit) so we can all benefit in the long run.

Besides, now that what's-his-face has finally hacked the ps3 and can now turn his attention to other projects, give him a few months and he'll do the same for the iPad as he did for the iPhone...then this thing may be worth owning. Somewhat.

I've been watching the HP tablet but I haven't seen the the UI for it yet. The tablet version of Windows 7 works OK with a stylus but it wouldn't be very useful with finger input. The same could be said for OSX when we finally got our hackintosh running on that same HP workstation. None of these OS' are geared towards touch input, just like the base versions of Windows Mobile. They need an additional UI for touch features which is likely going to increase resource requirements. While part of me wishes Apple had made a touch version of OSX for the tablet I'm really seeing the reasoning for going with the iPhone OS instead.

I did get a copy of the 3.2 Beta SDK with the iPad tools in it so I'll be playing around with porting our existing iPhone apps to the new UI in the next week. I'm kind of dangerous with that SDK: I'm not a developer but I have enough programming knowledge to get myself in trouble with things.
