I think one of the nice things about Tmpgenc from it's earliest days, was it's auto-fit .
It automatically determined the correct size and aspect ratio for you.
    However...

    I had a simple avisynth script in which I resized a 720p file to 720 * 576 @25 fps.
In HCenc, this works as you expected, the full 720*576 image size.

Opening this AVS script in Tmpgenc and selecting PAL (16/9) as the source A/R behaves similarly.

However, opening the MKV file directly (instead of the script) and setting the source A/R to 1:1,
the resulting mpeg file produced is a 704 picture inside of the 720 frame. Why? Is this the preferred
    DVD mode?

Another anomaly I noticed. When using tmpgenc with avisynth there remain multiple icons of FFDshow
in the systray that stay there until you shut down the program. When accessing the source files directly,
the icons disappear when the encode is done, and a ton of memory is freed up (according to task manager).
