  1. Hello to everybody, :D I hope someone could help me on this subject.

A VCD I made with Panasonic encoder from AVI file and burned with Nero 5.5 plays perfectly on Windows Media Player but goes slowly of of audio/video sync on a VCD player!!!
That VCD player plays perfectly commerical VCDs without any out of sync problem.

I recorded the AVI file with a Pinnacle DC10+ board then resized and cleaned up it with one of Virtual dub filters. I also tried to encode it in both PAL and NTSC standards with the same results, there is no out of sync on Windows Media player while it goes out of sync with the VCD player.

Any suggestion? Thank you and best regards!

  2. I am slowly going mad with this out of sync problem as well!
I have had out of sync problems with VCD's for ages now, and no one will actually answer the question on how to resolve this. All they keep talking about is the easier constant out of sync, not the gradual out of sync that we get!!!
No one seems to really know the answer...or they are not telling us!
Let me know if you get a reply m8!

  3. Thank you for your answer, I also read on this forum that many people has a similar problem, there also is a tip on how to fix a gradual out of sync on this forum but that implies that I could see this out of sync on my PC as mant people does,so I cannot apply those system because audio and video are perfectly in sync on media player or any VCD player programs, while is getting out on the VCD player. I think the problem is to understand why audio and video go out of sync... I also did a DVX version of the same recorded movie and it plays perfectly in sync.

I also though it was a player bug, but it plays perfectly commercial VDCs i bought in Malaysia an PC plays them perfectly as well!
So I wonder where is the difference:
boths are MPG1 files recorded around 1150kbs video and 224kbs mp2 audio, both has the same GOP structure VCD compliant and most of all both plays perfectly on my PC.
If I find a way i will tell you!

    best regards

  4. :D :D :D OK I FIXED IT!!!

I was able to resync audio and video of a -slow going out of sync- (only on VCD playier but Ok on Media Player) VCD I made.
Don't ask me why it works but I did these steps, the procedure is not very long and maybe you can find a quicker way.

    1) I copied the AVSEQ01.dat on hard disk, then with MPEG TOOLS of TMPEGen, simple demuxiplexing, I extracted the Video .mv1 and Audio .mp2 files.

    2) Then with multiplexing I rebuilt another MPG file, taking care to select the VCD type of stream. TMPEGenc gave me an error at the end of the job saying about a buffer underflow error, that I ingored.

    3) At this point the file seemed unplayable with WMP (windows media player) 6.4 (I use that because it seems to be critical with wrong files, while WMP 7.0 seems to be more tollerant)
With CUT and MERGE function I copied that file on another cutting away the last 2 seconds -always with VDC stream type selected- making it perfectly playable on WMP. If I dind't cut the end (only a black screen) it didn't play!

    4) I tried to burn a VCD with this file on a CD RW and it worked perfectly on my VCD keeping a perfect sync for all the CD duration! No more out of sync!

Then i did the final VCD with on a CD-R and tested it again of course....

With a new movie the trick seems to be to split audio WAV and video AVI then encode separatley audio to 224kbits 44.1khz mp2 and video to 352 * 288 pal (or 352*240 ntsc) VCD stream of course then mux them together after encoding.
If VCD stream is not selected nero will refuse to recognize it as VCD....

I will try with some new movie,

    Good Luck,
