I've seen lot of movies in avi format converted from DVD using XVID codec and a size of 700 MB for 95 minutes with excellent quality . I'd like to convert some movies to the above format and size mentioned above. I tried with video converter but I can't achieve the quality and size as I've seen with movies I've. Can anyone help to give me information about the proper utility and codecs and its proper settings to rip DVD's.

Recently I've purchased a satellite receiver in which I can record TV Programs in MPEG-2 format. The size of the recorded file is about 800 MB for 30 Minutes. I'd like to convert these into AVI format as mentioned above. Please help me.

  3. Try AutoGK. Beware that not all movies are created equal. Some will look better than others as 700MB Xvid AVI files. Noisy analog and interlaced recordings especially will not encode well.
