I had to restore a back-up due to a virus and lost some software I recently installed included a program that converted (I'm guessing it changed the container) a 2GB 1080P WMV file into MP4 in literally a couple of minutes. I've spent hours downloading and installing software but cannot remember what the hell it was called, video converter or something like that? It had a very simple interface. It isn't any of the following :

    Free Studio
    H264 Encoder
    MPEG Streamclip
    MKV2VOB
    Super
    YAMB

    Any ideas?

  2. Are you sure? I don't think wmv is compatible in .mp4 container. And nothing would re-encode that fast (it must have been re-wrapped, not re-encoded)

100% positive. Yes it re-wrapped, it does the same job as MKV2Vob only with WMV files.

I haven't seen any such tool.

Do you have one of those mp4 with wmv? Does it play fine? ANd does mediainfo say that it is wmv or vc1 video?

  6. for mkv you could use haali muxer (comes with haali media splitter) , but in that example the audio is different wma v2 has been converted to mp3

you might also be able to use ffmpeg (you can try avanti for a front end)

why would you want to change container?

It's taking forever. There are 52000 frames. There must be a simple way to change the container?

Because 1080P WMV files are the only format that will not playback on my WDTV V2 media streamer.
