  1. Hello all,
I want to ask some questions about the sli configuration i am going to setup. Until now i have never done sli because of the compatibility issues but now most games really benefit from 2way SLI so i am up for it.

Here are some things i want to ask:

    1. I am running BFG Geforce GTX 260 (simple GTX not core 216 version), now i know that brand does'nt matter, i can SLI BFG GTX 260 with EVGA GTX 260 without any compatibility issues, its the chip that matters but as some of you know, GTX 260 came in 2 versions, one was simple GTX which had 192 unified shaders which i am running and the other was called GTX 260 core 216 which had 216 unified shaders, can i SLI both without any problem? I have done some research and i have find mixed answers, some claim that core 216 will simply scale down to normal GTX 260 if paired with the later one while other answers say that they may cause trouble as graphics glitch in some titles like gta IV etc. The problem is that my retail stores only carry GTX 260 core 216 and normal gtx 260 has been widely replaced by the simillar priced but beefed up GTX 275.

    2. The second question is definitely the usual PSU. I have a corsair TX 750W PSU which i am sure it is not upto the task. I recently upgraded my system and i was aiming for Corsair HX1000W PSU first because i knew i would be doing SLI in the near future but latter i got short on budget and had to settle for lower PSU. My PSU is less then one month old and from the corsair PSU calculator here: http://www.corsair.com/psufinder/default.aspx?cpu_id=1155920&vc_id=619640&card_count=2&hd_num=325801 it says i atleast need HX950W PSU.

    3. Whats the difference between modular and non-modular PSU's? I am running non-modular one, corsair TX series psu's are non modular while hx series psu's are modular and there's considerable difference between price in both.

a modular psu is one that has removable power cables so only the ones needed are in the case. no extra wires hanging around.

  3. i live in Asia and i don't think i want to pay 50USD for shipping and wait 2 weeks and then have problem claiming warranty if something bad happens. I have to choose what my retail stores are carrying so its not an option for me
