Hello, I have some trouble with my Canopus ADVC 100 Unit , it "drops some frames" now and then. I use have hooked up my videocamera to the s-video in on the advc, and connected the dv out to FireWire on pc. I also have a control monitor hooked up to the advc. Now then, when I capture or just playback the video from camera, using Windv, the program says 0 dropped frames, BUT actually it has droppes some frames. When looking in wievfinder on camera there are no troubled, but when looking at control monitor(tv) there are some Black pictures, at the same time when the Windv shows "still picture". I have to bee my advc thats giving me trouble, or??
Any suggestions how to solve this problem????
I have transferred two Hi8 tapes without any troubles, maybe the advc Unit gets too hot???
    Kindly

I haven't seen that problem with my ADVC-100. Dropped frames usually happen at the computer when the data path to the hard drive is interrupted by background disk activity. This seldom happens when capturing to a second hard drive.

If the ADVC-100 unit is dropping frames it would be a malfunction. Or the problem is with the video camcorder.

Hello edDV, again , first, sorry for my not always perfect written english
Well it seems to, that I have to look "closer" to my camcorder, OR the advc ( ,because I know for sure it isn't. The pc that's giving me trouble. Maybe some bad connections, outside or inside these units. (
thank you for your answer. Kindly jan

I have to tell you it was the DOCKING STATION causing me all the trouble, I just connected the
wires direct to the camcorder, and the "dropped" frames dissapered. YES ! )
