I recently received the thoughful gift of having some my old VHS tapes digitized to halt their degredation. They were supplied to me as AVI files (video only) with 2 WAV files, apparently due to AVID processing. I now have the task of creating DVD's from them.
With time constraints in mind, I was wondering if regular consumer video editing software (the typical $100 type) would combine the files (without an additional rendering stage), allow for color correction (color temp issues) and provide basic authoring and burning tools? I had used Ulead Video Studio in the past, for example, and it seemed to work well (but that was from a DV camcorder source).
Thanks.

You can do it without spending a dime. However, the AVIs have to be reencoded because DVDs contain MPEG-2 video. And if doing color correction they'd have to be reencoded anyway. PCM WAV audio is OK (as long as it's at 48kHz), but it takes up so much space that it's usually reencoded to AC3 audio (or sometimes MPA for PAL DVDs).Originally Posted by lbblock
