I was given a Hitachi DZ-GX5020A for a gift two years ago. I want to upload homemade videos to share with family. No software came with cam and a search of Hitachi indicates no software for the camcorder. How can I accomplish this task?

What media did you record to? If it's DVD-RW, you should be able to read the disc in a computer DVD-RW drive. If it's DVD-RAM, you will need to import the .vro file (I used MPEG-VCR back in the day when I pulled video from an older dvd-cam) or drag it onto your drive and rename the extension mpg.

Hitachi sells a connect kit for some models - you'll need to go to their support website and see what it takes.

Did the thing come with a User Manual? That's where the part numbers are for the old 200 that I have.

I found one on ebay, rather than pay Hitachi $200 for it.

Not not really, The finalized mini dvd plays in my PC's dvd player but I would like to be able to have the Movie maker pull the video from the player / disc. There is a n out line to Video RCA jacks but you need a video capture card to get that to work. supposedly if the PC has the right codecs it can read the video and copy to Movie Maker from the DVD player in my pc.
