    Im pretty much planning on ripping DVD's, but to make sure, I need a DVD-ROM Drive right? I read a few tutorials, and it seems that all i need to do is look at the files.. so maybe a regular CD-Rom drive can work.

    of course you need a DVD-ROM. CDs adn DVDs have different physical structures, thats the reason. If CDs could read DVDs, then there would be no point of a DVDROM
