Video Business publishes last issue. Jan. 4 issue was final for magazine:

  2. I've had a subscription for the entire 29 years run: yikes! First when I was a clerk, then later when I had my own stores, continuing on to today. Sorry to see VB shut down, like all the other video store trades, but unfortunately video stores are going the way of record stores and will soon blink out of existence. Sad.

The ongoing collapse of non-internet media sometimes makes me wish I could volunteer for the "Logans Run" euthanasia program. If I see one more idiot on the subway reading a Kindle or an iPhone instead of a newspaper or magazine, I'm gonna hurl. You can take this "up to the minute, just broke this second" obsession and shove it: I much prefer print. Its portable, disposable or archival at my whim, and easier on the eyes. Too bad it will be nothing but a memory in five years time.

In fairness to e-readers, the idea behind e-ink is that it looks more like paper than an LCD.

On one hand it's sad to see familiar magazines go, but some have successfully adapted.

I agree that books and magazines are more portable (assuming you are only carrying one around with you), and I feel they read better than electronic media, but I am reading more online. Disposing of printed media is a pain, and keeping it around because I want to read it again creates clutter.
