I get all kinds of files but not the video file. I can only see it in the preview but when I tell it to do the job I dont get any file for the video. Says Video compression error: the source image format is not acceptable (error code -2) when the VirtualDubMod opens on its own and starts to do the rest as the job is finishing.

Try open the VTS_01_1.ifo instead of the vob file.
And if that wont help try (re)install latest xvid codec. -
