I have been making successful full disc BD-R backups using the BD-Rebuilder method described at this site. I do not have a ps3 yet but I plan to get one in the coming months so I have been using the AVCHD-Patcher, and dragging the index.bdmv file into the patcher. Some titles, Cars, The Patriot, Transformers 2 have been patched successfully. However some other titles, Start Trek (2009), Iron Man, South Park come back with the error "this file is not correct format" This is the same error you get when you try to patch an index.bdmv file that has been patched. Since I can't test these on a ps3 yet does anyone know if these will work on a ps3? or will I have to wail until I get the ps3 to find out.... Will I have to do the time consuming re-compression disc backup? I sure hope not....

I would say no. I have been using BD Rebuilder for a while now. I can't think of what version it was that said you had to use that patch you spoke of, but after the update i no longer have to use that patch. As a matter of fact, I haven't used that patch in the last year and BDs play fine on my PS3 and PC

I am using BD Rebuilder 0.31.05 the latest from dec 8 2009
so all should be good then... great!! -
I've been backing up my blu rays for a year now and have never used avchd patcher. All play perfectly fine on my ps3. I believe that the only time that you needed to use avchd patcher is when backing up to bd-5 or bd-9 discs, not bd-25 discs.
