I have a DVD player that plays divx. Any file that has a long file name gets shortened and I find it difficult to know which episode it is. Is there a way to show the full file name?

  2. This is a very common issue. There are modded firmwares available for some players that will show longer filenames, many of the Philips Divx/DVD players for example. See if you can find one. What player do you have?

Another solution is to rename your files with episode numbers at the beginning so it's easier to see which episode is which. This works best with folders:

    \ShowName\1x01 yada.avi
    \ShowName\1x02 yada yada.avi
    \ShowName\1x03 yada yada yada.avi
    \DiffShow\1x01 episode name goes here.avi
    \DiffShow\1x02 next name goes here.avi

Then when the names get munged you'll still see the numbers at the start.

I have the Soniq QMD70B Portable DVD player. I don't think they provide firmware =[. Your other method only works best for videos that I haven't burnt yet.
