i bought a Sony HDR-CX100 High Definition Handycam Camcorder recently and i just recorded about 1min to see how it works, when i transfered the file to my computer, and tried playing the file with VLC media player, it isn't playing smoothly, the video (is stuttering) i also tried playing it on nero, win dvd pro, cyberlink dvd 9 and it's still doing the same thing, can someone help me as to what i'm doing wrong or if it's software or hardware problems?

    thanks
    chris

If your posted computer details are correct, your PC is marginal for HD playback. But try MPC-HC. It's optimized for HD playback. If you still get poor playback, I would upgrade your video card as the most cost effective change. If that's not enough, then a faster CPU may be needed. A quad core CPU running at about 2.5Ghz or more would definitely do the job, along with a good video card. You would most definitely need a faster CPU if you plan to edit or re-encode HD video frequently. It uses a lot of computer power and hard drive space.

Check your CPU usage during HD playback with Task Manager and you may see the problem right there if the usage is above 50%.

    And welcome to our forums.

i just checked the CPU usage and it went to 100%, so i guess the problem is my hardware. Thank you for your reply.
