  1. I am trying to create a new VCD from a .mpg file.

    I have been trying to use InstantVideo (part of the software package that came with my CD-RW) and keep getting the error message:

    "Invalid fixed_flag or CSPS_flag

    The parameters of the file you are attempting to use do not comply with the VideoCD specification."

    when I try to add my .mpg file to the project.

    I have used medialab's MPEG Properties to check my .mpg, and according to that it is definitely a valid file for VCD. I got the .mpg by using VCDgear to convert a .dat file from an existing VCD in the first place.

    The MPEG Properties program does point out that some flags are there:

    * under System:
    CSPS (what is this by-the-way?)
    Fixed Bitrate
    Audio Lock
    Video Lock

    & under Video: CSPS
    & under Audio: Protection Bit

    Are these flags the problem - and if so, can I adjust them??

    thanks for any help!

  2. This seems to be a common problem with real-time mpeg devices. If all the flags are not set correctly by the people writing the software, it will create non-compliant streams simply because some flags (bits) are not set correctly in the stream header.
