    Hi folks,

    I have a EasyCap Syntek STK1150.
I trying to capture VHS to DVD.
The video capturing seems to skip and I would like to know how to stop it.

I'm transferring family wedding video tapes to DVD

I notice that a couple of the transfers I carried out had some skips in the play back.
Would this be down to my PC?

    My PC spec:
    Dell Dimension 5150
    Dual Core 2.8GHz
    3GB of RAM
Radeon ATI HD2600XT 512MB graphics card

I would appreciate all the help if someone could help me eliminate the skips during transfer
I'm using ULead VideoStudio SE that came with the EasyCAP USB2.0 device

    Regards,
    DTreacy

    DTreacy,

Are you capturing to the same drive with your programs (ie. Windows)?
I found that capturing to a different drive eliminated dropped frames and sync issues, at least in my case. I'm using Corel DVD MovieFactory 6.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Winston Wolf and Lordsmurf.

Thank you both for your info.
One of the video tapes, I'm transferring is bad. Each new scene has about 5 sec of snow then clears up immediately.
I seriously want to retain the bad parts and clean them up in Adobe Production Studio.

I understand from Digital FAQ that if a tape is bad, frames can be skipped.
I also found on the net a new a capture device called ADS DVDEpxress 2. There has been some bad reviews about it but the reviews are old.

Would the DVDExpress 2 capture the bad frames that I want?

Or is there another Capture card or external device that would capture all frames from the video tape.

    Regards,
    DTreacy

    Hi Dionescu,

I'm able to capture audio as well as video.
You could look at your sound setting in Control Panel and set mike input to the USB device.

You should then be able to capture audio.

Also note: I did have audio problems when I had Vista installed but that was down to the sound card software.
The update for my sound card under Vista was not good. So I reinstalled XP

    Hi DTreacy,

Thank you for your reply. I'm on XP but in the sound settngs of the Control Panel I can't select anything else than the internal microphone.

The DC60 driver (Syntek STK1150) is installed under Imaging Device and not under Sound, Video and Game controllers.

I've tried with three laptops, two Lenovo and a Dell and it's exactely the same problem on all. I assume the audio part of the driver is not working.

Do you have any idea on how to make it running, please?

    Kind regards,
    Dionescu
