    Hello, everyone.

It was installed at my PC a undesirable protection called Security Center.

I'm not able to remove it.

What can I do to remove that spam?

    Thanks and good bye.

  3. Malwarebytes would be my bet. These types of programs are popping up all over. Malwarebytes is usually recommended to get rid of them and I've had good success with it for just the purpose. SuperAntiSpyware may work fine for this as well. They are two of the best free ones available right now.

"security center" is not spam, malware or a trojan, it's part of windows, i'm guessing you have xp and there is a little shield icon in the mower right hand corner of the screen that pops up a message about your pc being unprotected in some way. you need to disable the security center service: start->settings->control panel->administrative tools->services, scroll down to "security center" and first stop the service, then disable it (right click will give you the options).

To remove some of those phony 'security' programs, you may have to start the PC in safe mode and run the antimalware programs. But try the programs mentioned in regular mode first.

I ran into one nasty one called 'windows pc defender' a while back (adware installer/trojan) and I had to remove it in parts as it blocked and disabled all antimalware programs. It is purposely named to resemble Windows Defender, part of Windows. Make sure to turn off system restore, unplug from the internet before trying to remove one of these type of phony security programs or they may just reinstall. If all else fails, a reinstall of the OS may be required.

Before you install any unknown program, do a internet search using the name of the program to find out more about it and you may save yourself a lot of grief.

There are some that look like the Microsoft security center.

Easy to tell the fake. The real Security center does not tell you that you have a virus or suggest buying a certain cleaner. The fake ones do.

Those are rogue products, also called scareware. They can look and sound like legit software. They go by many different names and can even resurface with the same icons etc., only the name will change. Other than being bombarded with pop ups from the system tray, the whole point of this malware is for you to register or activate it in order to remove the fake threats. You will of course be losing money and handing over credit card and personal information. Its all a money making scam. Other than annoying some of these can be pretty harmless, others not so harmless. As said Malwarebytes would be the best choice for removal. [/img]
