Greetings! I very new to all this so bear with me and feel free to question my question.I started messing around with video after seeing a web site with a cool video set up and thought "Hey, I want something like that on my site" so over the last couple weeks I have been searching your site and Have found so much info it's over whelming. Let me start by saying like others I'm am starting this with "no funds" everything I have to work with I already have or have found it for free on the net.
Computer: Windows XP, P4 2.00 GHz, 512 MB Ram
Handy-cam: Sony DCR-TRV27
Edit Software: Windows Movie Maker
Convert from .wmv: Super (it seams to be giving me a zip I can't do anything with)
I don't have the funds to run out and start buying stuff so I will have to work with what I have, I need ideas to help me get started a little better.

start with getting the video off the cam properly. it's a miniDV cam so capture the DVavi with winDv. it will write the files to your hard drive in the same format/quality on the tape. then you can import it into wmm to edit. in a couple months there will be a free editor you can try, from the vlc team. i dont' think wmm will export h264 .mp4 video so you might try exporting back out as DVavi and then using a program like handbrake, mediacoder, xmediarecode, etc to make the online type video.

it would help to see this reference web site as "a cool video setup" isn't much to go by.

http://wheelersystema.com/ I like the page set up, the way they have the video set off to the left and when it's click on it fills over the screen, It looks alot more professional and creates a clean site,Originally Posted by greymalkin
I did down load the free version at flowplayer.org
I down loaded Riva, when I convert the .wmv into flv using Super and then go to my video file and click on the one I want to play, Riva player comes up and nothing happens
When I use FLV Player I get a quick video that say "DirectShowSource Could not open as video or audio" and there's other text below that, buts basically telling me that I screwed something up
Added:
Note to self,
Pay attention to WMM, Save Project vs. Save Movie File (not the same
)
I got the video up on a test page. http://delawareccdw.com/test.html The quietly not good but not bad for my first
