I gave the program a go just last week, because i want to expirement with SVCD. I just can't seems to make a decent SVCD Mpeg. The DVD2SVCD program (Latest version) stops right after having opened CCE 2.5 SP. It doesn't lock up or anything, it just doesn't continue....
Further more i still haven't found a goed way to rip the DVD, frameserve to something that can resize AND which can be read by CCE. If i use DVD2AVI, i can use clipping and cropping there, but the .D2V file can't be opened in CCE (Or VirtualDub).

You may add a 3rd poll option : I dont like to use it.
@Psycho_Dad_Rules, dvd2svcd uses dvd2avi and Avisynth to frameserve (avisynth to resize). I think you should register Avisynth before using dvd2svcd. Also run cce seperately at least one time before using dvd2svcd. If you have an Athlon CPU you might need the crc patch too.
Do not crop with dvd2avi if you frameserve with Avisynth / mpeg2dec plugin. -
Well the strange thing is, that all the program needed by DVD2SVCD work perfectly when used on their own, it just that the CCE goes wrong when used bij DVD2SVCD. I use CCE before to encode some test SVCD files to see how to created the best quality file (Still not satisfied about this...) so that works too.

I haven't tried DVD2SVCD as I believe you need a lot of disk space to rip the DVD. I am limited by a 10GB HD and hence use DVDX which converts the DVD directly to mpg-2 OR mpg-1. ...I use that for SVCD only as I get very good quality from it. However, don't get very good MPEG-1 from DVDX

dvd2svcd is simply a frontend & nothing more. if you are competant enough to digest the readme files for a handful of programs why add another layer of complexity? you may argue that it makes high-quality svcd creation accessible to more people, but i think it will be counterproductive in the long run
