Hello.
I've bought a DVD of a television series that I want to rip into separate episodes and copy for my Mum, but I'm new to this and don't know much about the subject.
I've had a go at using AutoGK to do the ripping, setting the AVI file size to 350MB (about the average size for a 30-min TV episode, as I understand it), but the resulting file was tiny when played through Media Player Classic.
And from prior experience, I know that if I converted and burnt that file in ConvertXtoDVD, the quality would be terrible.
The episodes are in full screen mode on a 4:3 television, so that's what I want the output to be because that's what type of TV both myself and my Mum have.
So I guess my question is, can anyone point me in the right direction about how to do what I want to do?
Maybe a tutorial or similar?
I've had a good look around here but can't find the answer (maybe I've been searching wrong, I don't know).
Any help would be appreciated, because I'm rather frustrated at the moment.
Thank you and regards,
scoopyx.

I think DVDShrink will be a good start for what you want to do.
It will allow you to backup each episode as an individual file or ISO.
Download it from the Tools section then take a look at the guide's here https://www.videohelp.com/guides/category/how-to-backup-dvd-to-dvd-r-w-basic-6;30#369.
There are several guide's for DVDShrink so it will be worth taking a look at each one to find the one which will show you how to do what you want.

When mentioning AutoGK, post the log. If by 'tiny' you mean the resolution was low, an educated guess tells me you encoded the entire DVD - all the episodes at once. Check the AVI you made if you still have it. Decrypt them each separately to their own folder using DVD Decrypter set up for IFO Mode and not the default File Mode and try again.Originally Posted by scoopyx

For a simplistic way use dvddecrypter to turn the dvd's into ISO files, then open the iso file with fairusewizard and convert from there.

Manono, that's what I must have done.
I'm ripping them all as per your advice and it's working fine now, so thank you.
And to everyone else who replied, I'm going to have a play around with everything that was suggested just for interest's sake.
Thanx everyone very much, and regards.
