OK I can say that yes it too slow at times but I have looked for this answer and it has me baffled

In avisynth what does the number at the end of the code mean

    LoadVirtualDubPlugin("C:\Program Files (x86)\Winnydows\XviD4PSP5\dlls\AviSynth\plugins\NeatVideo (DVD) 2.0.vdf", "Neat_DVD", 0)

I have read the support manual and it shows a 3 instead of a 0 and I feel like a deer caught in the headlights of a 18 wheeler in the middle of the night.

Looking at the manual, I believe it refers to Preroll - here's the text from the manual.

    Loading Neat Video plug-in
The following function should be called from an AviSynth script to load the Neat Video plug-in:
    LoadVirtualDubPlugin(Path, Name, Preroll)
Path – a string parameter, should contain the full path to the Neat Video plug-in (NeatVideo.vdf)
Name – a string parameter, should contain the internal AviSynth plug-in name
Preroll – an integer parameter, should specify the number of frames that must be initially passed to
Neat Video to initialize its temporal filter. This parameter must be equal to the temporal filter radius
    (see TemporalRadius below).

ahhh a little light has been shined onto my confusion.
Now I tried it a 3 and the encoding was as fast as using MSU Denoiser and looked similar but nothing to write home about.

  4. For best results Neat video needs to sample the noise in your video to calibrate its noise reduction. See the interface in VirtualDub. And the Neat Video Manual for the VirtualDub version for examples.
