  1. Hello guys, i have a little problem.

Under http://www.kuks.de/simpsons.jpg you can see that my picture has not a very good contrast and that "white things" are very dominating.

I'm using a Miro (Pinnacle) PCTV, Windows 2000 and VirtualDub.

    Can you please help me?

    Kuks, from Germany

  2. Kuks, I have found that few Capture Cards have good setting out of the box. There is some tweaking that needs to be done in order to get the best possible quality. But first, What is your source for you Video? Analog Cable is a poor source for Capturing Video From. I recommend either Satellite or Digital Cable. Antenna Feeds vary depending on where you are and what type of antenna you use.
Next how are you getting it to the Video Capture Card? I have found that there is Very Big difference between Coax and Composite Video in on The Pinnacle PCTV Card. Of course for best color you want to use S-Video.
Finally you have to tweak the colors. Virtual Dub has setting for Contrast, Color, Saturation, and Hugh. These will need to be adjusted depending on your source. This is how I make those corrections. Find something to capture, I recommend Music Videos because they are short and get played a lot. Adjust the setting so they look good on your Computer Screen. Capture the Video. Next convert it to the format you are going to keep it in, VCD, SVCD, XVCD, XSVCD, DivX, etc. I will assume you are making VCD to play on a DVD Player. Next Watch it like you plan to watch your Video, play it on you DVD player. If it looks good your ready to go. If it doesn’t go back and make a slight Change to the Setting in Virtual Dub. Capture, Burn, and Watch Again. It may take a week before you get the settings you like. I recommend that you capture the same Music Video each time so you can see the differences from one VCD to the next.

When you get you setting let me know what they were. I just went through this with my MPG Card and would like to get out of doing it with my Pinnacle PCTV if I could.
